A Prayer for Remembering a Recently-Passed Ancestor
This prayer was said in rememberance of my Great-Aunt Mary.
Oh, how you loved to sing.
Your voice lifted to heaven,
Your heart voicing its joy.
Nothing was greater than that joyful noise.
I remember your laugh.
It was sonorous as well,
rising with such passion.
Nothing touched a soul more deeply than this.
I remember your garden.
Full of growing things,
But more full of love.
Nothing was ever wrong there.
Aunt Mary, I remember you.
Your words and your songs,
your laugh and your garden.
Most of all, I remember you.
You are a light in my life,
A joy I shall always treasure,
A song in my heart.
You helped shape me, as you shaped your garden.
Thank you.
