January 04, 2005 - A little piece of the future
I'm not ashamed at all that I want to be remembered. Even the most humble
person must wake up once in his live, look at the yawning void that is the
future, and say, "I'd like a piece of that."
It's not a big piece that I want, really. Maybe some passing mention in ADF's
archives. Maybe someone will tell a story about my life and people won't believe
it, but they'll tell it anyway. Even better, they'll hear that story and call
the person who tells it a bald-faced liar. I admit that a modest biography would
be nice, but it isn't required.
I think we all want this. It means that we've truly affected our fellow man (or
woman). It means that someone, somewhere, truly valued us as humans.
Besides, I'd hate to see all these damn journals I write go to waste.
