November 28, 2004 - The Job Description
Recently, a Grove member told me that sleeping with members of my Grove would probably be okay, so long as it wasn't expressly forbidden in the job description.
I only had one response to this, and when I responded, it made me think:
"Being a Senior Druid isn't just in the job description."
It made me stop and think that there's so much more to what we do as SD's, that we can't rely on a job description to get us through the hard times and to make the tough decisions. It wasn't just sleeping with Grove members, but rather everything about the job.
Bylaws don't help when a member has had an abortion. A job description doesn't fix things when a husband leaves his wife. The death of a member cannot be explained by a line in the Grove's policy and procedures manual.
There is no lifejacket for a Senior Druid drowning in the sea of problems a Grove can experience.
In the end, a rational person would never take the job.
My Gods, is the fact that I still want to do it the Calling I've asked for?
