History of Neo-Pagan Druidism, Requirement 4a
Of the following names, identify and explain the importance each has had in Neopagan history and/or the magical revival (minimum 100 words for each):
Gerald Gardner
Gerald Gardner:
Gerald Gardner claimed initiation into the Craft in 1939, and put out the book
High Magic's Aid in 1949, which becomes the first published book about the Craft (even though it's fiction), followed by Witchcraft Today in 1954 and The Meaning of Witchcraft in 1959. In these books, as well as in his work to create and build his covens and initiate
priests and priestesses, he promoted the ideas that became central to the teachings of the Craft: a principle God and Goddess figure, matrifocal leadership, and the division of the Goddess into three parts all opened up with him. Neo-Paganism would, likely, be around today (another catalyst would have stepped forward), but his particular ideas can still be found among a high concentration of Neo-Pagans today.
