Spell of Summons, by the Power of God's Tattoos

From the Ancient Christian Magic

Text 115

Text: Rylands 103
Description: paper, 15 x 18 cm; illegible writing on reverse
Bibliography: Walter E. Crum, Catalogue of the Coptic Manuscripts in the Collection of the John Rylands Library, Manchester, 53; Angelicus M. Kropp, Ausgewahlte koptische Zaubertexte, 2.211-12
Translator: Richard Smith
[Rylands 103 is a short, mostly illegible spell of unclear purpose. Still it has some attractive features. The one casting the spell appears to identify himself or herself (the gender of th divine power in such texts is not necessarily tied to the gender of the user) with Mary, the mother of Jesus. In a rather exotic image, the seven holy vowels of the Greek alphabet are tattooed across god's chest. This same motif is found in London Oriental Manuscript 6794 (text 129). We also have forms of the names Ablanathanalba and Akramachamari. Some divine power is being adjured, but we cannot tell who or for what purpose from what survives.]

TEXT

. . . My mother is Mary. The breast . . . the breast from which our lord Jesus Christ drank. In the name of the seal that is traced upon the heart of Mary the virgin; in the name of the seven holy vowels (?) which are tattooed on the chest of the father almighty, AEEIOUO; in the name of him who said, "I and my father, we are one," that is, Jesus Christ; in the name of Abba Abba Abba Ablanatha Nafla Akrama Chamari Ely Temach Achoocha!

I adjure you by the sacrifice of your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, Rabboni, in the way that you sealed the cup.

NOTES

"I and my father, we are one." - John 10:30
"Rabboni" - A title of Christ used in Mark 10:51 and John 20:16. The word is best translated as "teacher", though some translations use "master" instead.
"Vowels" - the transcription is questionable. Crum transcribes it one way, and Kropp suggests something different.
"the way that you sealed the cup" is a reference to making the sign of the cross over the communion cup.

Thoughts (MJD)

This particular spell has a lot of possibilities for some fun uses, especially for those rebellious teens whose parents won't let them get tattoos. Imagine invoking the power of God's tattoos in order to help you convince your parents to get you your own tattoo!

So I will provide two separate chaos workings based off this working. One for those disgruntled teenagers, and one for Chaotes simply looking to call down the power of these tattoos.

Working 1:

Recite the following spell as a prayer while visualizing the tattoo you want:

My mother is Mary. The breast that nourished me is the breast from which our lord Jesus Christ drank. In the name of the seal that is traced upon the heart of Mary the virgin; in the name of the seven holy vowels which are tattooed on the chest of the father almighty, AEEIOUO; in the name of him who said, "I and my father, we are one," that is, Jesus Christ; in the name of Abba Abba Abba Ablanatha Nafla Akrama Chamari Ely Temach Achoocha!

I adjure you by the sacrifice of your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, Rabboni, in the way that you sealed the cup.
Make the sign of the cross as you say this last part, and go to speak with your parents. The power of God will shine upon you, illumination from the tattoos.

Working 2:

You will need a piece of parchment, a pen to write with, and a glass of wine. Write out the words you will speak on one side of it, and on the other, draw a representation of your will on the other (in words or pictures). The representation of your will should not be legible, and I suggest sigilizing your intent.

Once you have written out the words, speak them as follows, visualizing the tattoos upon God's chest blazing with the bright light of God's power as you recite them:

I adjure you, blessed Father. My mother is Mary. The breast that nourished me as a babe is the breast from which our lord Jesus Christ drank.
Make the sign of the cross over the cup, reciting the following words:
I adjure you by the sacrifice of your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, Rabboni, in the way that you sealed the cup.
Drink from the cup, draining the wine from the cup. Wipe away whatever is left in the cup with the paper on which you have written the prayer. Roll the paper up and carry it on your person as an amulet, and you will achieve your aim.
